Byron Airport
AE3 provided full design services for the recent expansion of the Byron Airport, nestled in Byron, California. This airport, originally conceived as a “reliever” facility to ease the demands on neighboring aviation hubs, had, over time, grown into a bustling aviation hub of its own. AE3 was entrusted with the airport’s expansion, breathing new life into its infrastructure.
As part of this project, six impressive single-story aircraft hangar facilities were designed to accommodate the airport’s growth. Each hangar was meticulously designed to accommodate a variety of aircraft, reflecting the needs of a diverse aviation community.
The heart of this expansion project was the design of a brand-new taxiway system, a carefully planned network of pathways that would streamline the movements of various aircraft. It paved the way for the smooth flow of general aviation, light jets, and experimental aircraft, effectively catering to a diverse range of aviation needs. The significance of this design went beyond mere aesthetics; it was a tangible demonstration of AE3’s expertise in understanding the unique operational demands of an airport.
