CIVIL ENGINEER | PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a background in civil design and 5+ years of
experience. We are seeking someone who is committed to delivering an excellent experience
for our clients, internal and external. This individual will be responsible for carrying out a
long-term site improvement programs for major utility clients and private development
clients. The ideal candidate will have good client interaction skills, a demonstrated ability to
manage internal and external project teams on critical schedules, as well as strong time
management and communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating project meetings with clients and consultants to develop suitable design
    drawings.
  • Develop cost-effective design layouts based on construction specifications and
    requirements.
  • Analyze design issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
  • Perform field surveys and investigations to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Prepare a full set of working drawings.
  • Review project plan and determine the design feasibilities and constraints.
  • Use latest software and technologies to develop effective designs.
  • Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing civil designs.
  • Manage design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
  • Perform design changes and improvements according to changing project demands.
  • Stay abreast with latest developments with civil design fields.
  • Provide assistance to design and construction teams.
  • Facilitate permit submittal to various cities and agencies.
  • Manage project coordination with structural and geotechnical engineers.
  • Effectively communicate status updates, document flow and permit status with Project
  • Management team, General Contractors, and other consultants.
  • Ensure that permit related files, data, documents, plans and reports are properly
    prepared to be submitted for review/approval.
  • Review submittals and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Other tasks as assigned by director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity working on a multiple-site improvement programs.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  •  Experience creating large scale existing conditions site plans, for site improvement
    projects.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented.
  • Professional Engineer License (desired).
  •  Knowledge of California building codes.
  • Revit and Autocad
  • Bluebeam Review or Plan Grid
  • MS Office
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or similar.

Experience:

BIM MANAGER

We are seeking a BIM Manager with 5 years of experience.The BIM Manager will be the main point of contact for the project design teams on design software related issues. This position will act as a mentor to our staff on best practices of moving through the life cycle of a project. In this position, the BIM Manager will serve as a hands on project manager and will be responsible for managing numerous Revit users and multiple Revit projects, facilitating production and model development for all phases of projects, implementation of advanced technologies and prototyping, providing support to BIM initiatives, and ensuring that timely and
relevant training is executed. This position will also work with our IT person and others
in the configuration of all software used in the systems and workflows.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Implement our BIM vision and structure, facilitate consistency, increase the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of our processes and deliverables for all projects.
    • Interface with the firm’s BIM Committee regarding BIM standards and strategy.
    • Promote, educate and support the core BIM Software Platforms – primarily Revit.
    • Interface with other design application such as Lumion, 3Dmax, Rhino, Vray, etc.
    • Project Revit Set up.
    • Review project Revit models at key milestones for consistency with standards, level of development, and efficient modeling practices.
    • Interface with IT manager to create and maintain related software deployments, updates, upgrades and respective plug-ins.
    • Support for creative design solutions.
    • Manage, audit, and keep Revit models on track.
    • Create, maintain and roll out Revit standards.
    • Put together multiple CD sets.
    • Experience with workflows with interfacing models in different rendering software.
    • Oversight of printing and publishing drawings sets at various milestones.
    • Mentor, teach and be a team player.
    • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, or related field.
    • 5 years of experience in architectural design with knowledge of professional services for all stages of Project Delivery.
    • Training Design and Delivery experience.
    • Strong technical knowledge of Revit with experience and interface with other design applications
    • Customization and programming experience (a plus, not required).
    • Parametric modeling experience.
    • Experience with workflows with interfacing models in different rendering software.

    Senior Project Manager

    We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with 10 – 15 years of experience. As a Senior Project Manager, you will report directly to the firm owners and be involved in key decision-making processes.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Licensed architect in California with a Bachelors or Masters in architecture
    • 10 years of experience (15 preferred) with at least 5 years as the responsible Project Manager for large scale projects
    • Advanced skills with Revit Building Design Suite and AutoCAD
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Office, Excel, Outlook)
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and 3D rendering software strongly preferred

    An ideal candidate has:

    • Technical ability to oversee the design and production of complex, large-scale ($10 million+) projects (aviation/transportation, commercial & residential experience preferred)
    • Revit expertise: experience leading and managing the production of projects in Revit and the ability to develop/manage Revit standards
    • Leadership skills and ability to manage/coach other staff and consultants in the design and production of drawings in a fast paced work environment
    • Great writing skills and the ability to assist principals and business development team with technical writing for presentations, RFP responses, and other business correspondence
    • Oral presentation skills – experience with client interviews and leading both internal and external meetings
    • Possess strong communication skills, time management, and a self-driven work ethic

    PROJECT ARCHITECT

    Reporting directly to the principals, this position consists of the direct day-to-day management of projects, design and production. Looking for someone with good client interaction skills, a demonstrated ability to manage internal and external project teams on critical schedules, as well as strong time management and communication skills.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of experience, including at least 3+ years verifiable experience as a Project Architect or Project Manager
    • Documented Experience leading various project types. Knowledgeable with all building types.
    • Comprehensive understanding of building systems, constructability, detailing and how to properly document these items within well-coordinated construction documents. *We will request that candidates bring examples of their work to interviews.
    • Proficiency with Revit Modeling Systems (a test will be administered) and a proven track record of managing production for both Revit and AutoCAD based projects.
    • Proven ability and willingness to help develop successful client contact, including understanding client needs and maintaining positive client relationships.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Office, Excel, Outlook)
    • Professional Licensure as a California Architect required.

    Office Engineer/PERMIT TECHNICIAN

    AE3 is seeking an Office Engineer with 2-5 years of experience working in the Engineering/Architecture/Construction Management field.  This position will be held at an airport site, and consists of the day-to-day management of important construction documents, and internal communications including, but not limited to drawings, plans, and permits for various construction projects obtaining permit.  This is an excellent entry level position for those seeking careers in the world of large engineering/construction projects for aviation and transportation.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 2-5 years’ experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Engineering/Construction Management. Master's Degree not required but will provide candidate with an advantage.
    • Comprehensive understanding of construction record keeping.
    • Bluebeam experience required, as well as working knowledge of Autocad, Revit, and Microsoft Office.  Test May Be Administered.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a Project Management team, General Contractors, and other consultants, when communicating status updates, document flow and permit status.
    • Detailed code knowledge and ICBO certifications are not required as this is an entry level position, but will again provide candidate an advantage.
    • Strong Organizational skills to ensure that permit related files, data, documents, plans and reports are properly recorded and maintained. 
    • Detail Oriented, able to discern submittals and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.


    REVIT DESIGNER

The ideal candidate is technically proficient and has a minimum of five years actual project experience with Revit.     • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school
    • At least five years of experience working in an architectural firm, working in Revit, creating renderings, and working on various elements of design
    • Technical Skills must include proficiency in Revit, Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design), various 3D modelling software programs, MS Office, and Newforma
    • Working knowledge of Standards in Revit (test will be given)
