Dublin Transit Center Parking Garage

Dublin Transit Center Parking Garage

AE3 served as the Designer / Basis of Design Architect for a new ground-up 5 level, 570 space Transit Oriented Parking Garage for Alameda County in Dublin, CA. This garage caters to the daily influx of commuters from the Central San Joaquin Valley Area, who seek to access the Bay Area via the conveniently adjacent Dublin BART station. Recognizing the importance of this transit connection, Alameda County, Caltrans, and the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) joined forces to fund and bring this ambitious project to fruition.

With a focus on sustainability, the project prioritizes parking for EV Vehicles and EV Commuter Vans on the lower level, and the project also accommodates driver-less vehicles provided by LAVTA that provide local access to the surrounding neighborhood.  The project was designed to allow the conversion of 18,000 sf of the ground floor area to retail should parking demand be less in the future.  The roof of the garage can accommodate a full-sized solar array that will allow the structure to achieve Zero Net Energy (ZNE) and potentially generate power for the grid.  The project will use this PV, high fly ash content concrete, high efficiency LED lighting and other means to achieve Parksmart Gold. The garage will use “green-screen” along the exterior to help soften the mass of the structure. The final design builder for the project was McCarthy Construction.
