Kingmakers of Oakland
AE3 Partners designed the new headquarters for the prominent San Francisco East Bay non-profit Kingmakers of Oakland, which advocates for a world where African American males successfully become and are perceived as leaders and role models in their communities. This initiative focuses on transforming an existing recording studio building to support the needs of the Kingmakers of Oakland and aims to foster collaboration, creativity, and community engagement in service of this mission.
The scope of work includes a comprehensive interior tenant renovation, emphasizing the redesign of office areas to create community-focused gathering spaces. Key elements include modifications to the existing partition layouts and updated finishes throughout the communal spaces. The project introduces a new community hub in the back garden, anchored by an outdoor kitchen, and expands office functions with the integration of a prefabricated office container into the back patio area.
Interior upgrades feature the addition of a state-of-the-art media lab for video production and a fashion fabrication lab. The project also includes a complete overhaul of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in all renovated areas, ensuring modernized infrastructure.
The Kingmakers of Oakland project is currently under review by the City of Oakland, with construction anticipated to be completed by late 2025.
