West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) Summer Modernization Project
Funded by a $500M bond measure, AE3 was selected to design several school modernization projects for the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Faced with aging schools from the 1940s and 1950s, AE3 executed several projects intended to increase the serviceable life of these buildings, including ADA barrier removal and modernization of 45 restroom facilities throughout three campuses over one summer, which included the removal of outdate portables, and door and hardware upgrades These projects also revamped existing buildings, repainted areas to enhance lighting efficiency, as well as replacing weather stripping/gaskets to improve the buildings air sale. We worked closely with facilities and maintenance staff to develop a scope and prioritize items in a limited budget. We also worked closely with staff to source material and components that were functional and minimized maintenance.
